Memories...

Dearest friends,
I am humbled by the outpouring of love and support
that you have gifted me and my family over the passing of our
sweet old girl, Maddie.

How lucky she is to have so many people keeping her alive in their thoughts!

I thought, to end the week, I would share a few earlier pictures of her...
ones you have never seen.

Maddie always had an affinity towards water...

as a baby she would fall asleep in her water bowl.

And once she was full grown, spent countless hours in the duck pond...
just watching over the ducks...

She had a natural curiosity for the chickens, but quickly learned that they were
off-limits!

She was a cold-weather lover...
even as a baby...

Tennis balls?  Her absolute favorite thing!
Her favorite game was fetch, until the day came that she could no longer run,
and then she loved to just play catch.
She could catch a tennis ball as well as any first-base-man.
And could hold three tennis balls in her mouth at one time!

No matter where, in the house, a tennis ball would be hidden...
she'd find it and bark until someone got it for her.

Tall grass held the allure of butterflies.
Maddie fancied herself an accomplished butterfly hunter!

She was friend to all....

All of her adult pictures have the same typical Newfie expression...

peace, love and understanding.
Of all the dogs I ever had, Maddie was the most intuitive and emotional.
She could read her family's emotions like a book.

It is my hope for each of you that sometime in your life you are lucky
enough to be loved by a creature like our Maddie.
Your life will be so much richer...and you will never be the same again.

Much love and hugs to you all...
thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with us.
Memories help us heal.
And so do friends.

Before we part for the weekend,
I wanted to share this old picture of our Sadie (we lost almost a year ago).
It is perhaps my favorite....

Have a wonderful weekend!!
Monday we will return to the land of the living...
bringing you more "tails" from the farm!

Good Morning.Who doesn't love a puppy and Maddie even got more beautiful the older she got. Wishing for you and yours a wonderful weekend.
Maddie was such a pretty girl. I always got a kick out of her riding around in the gator with you. You have had a rough time losing your old trusted friends these past few years. I will be thinking of you and your family.

I love reading all of your blogs, first thing I look for every morning when I log on facebook. I was very sad to read about Maddie, so sorry. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. It is hard to let them go, I know, I went through it too....They are just like one of the kids!!! They are such a part of you...

The photos brought me more tears and "goosey bumps!"
I agree . . . truly, the love of an animal is like no other . . . in the giving and the receiving.
Memories and pictures are gifts indeed.
Thinking of you and caring . . .

Good morning...I, too, read your blog every morning before I go to work...I was so so sorry to read about Maddie, but this morning's post showed just how much she gave to her family, how much she added to your life, so the sad is tempered with the blessings you shared. It so hard to lose someone who has been such a part of your life, but it's even worse never to have known a love like that.

Thank you so much for the gift of this blog.

there is nothing like the unconditional love of a dog. It just tugs at our heartstrings when they leave our heart so empty. Many hugs Bev!

I lost my two babies four years ago. I was blessed to have them and it still hurts I had to let them go. The hardest thing I had to do.

I sit here at the computer trying to think of words on how blessed everyone was to have had the love of Maddie. This little walk down memory lane was wonderful. She will be so missed. Thank you for the last pic of dear Saddie. Yes, tears but sending love and hugs!!

I did not respond to your post yesterday feeling privacy was perhaps best. I was in error. Your post touched hearts and moved souls to remember our blessings, let go of what we must, when we must, and come from gratitude in all things. RIP Maddie, peace to you and yours..

Hi Bev, I haven't been visiting blogland much lately while job searching again. I am so sorry Maddie's life came to an end. It's always so sad when our precious non-human friends leave us. I know she had a wonderful life on your farm and she knows how much she was loved, as did my beloved Princess who left me 11 months ago. I still cry but know she is waiting for me, as Maddie is for you.

My dog is laying on my legs, waiting patiently for me to finish with the computer and go to bed so…she can lay on my legs. I love all my humans. But there is something unique about the love we have for with our dogs. Something very unique. My dog, Keela, and I send our love.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear about Maddie - I haven't been online as often and missed her passing. She was a real cutie as a pup and a wonderful big girl as an adult. I've loved all your stories about her. My Lucy is 13 and having a really tough time getting up and down so I know what's coming and dread it. Blessings to you.
