Every once in a while
someone comes into your life and gifts you with perfect love.
That someone, for us, was Maddie.
If ever there was a being who embodied all that is good and kind and wonderful...
it was she.
Last night we gave Maddie our final gift of kindness...
we helped her to heaven...where all dogs go.
The time had come for her when living was more difficult than leaving.
We were so lucky to have an additional three months with her...
since losing the function in her back legs in November.
We are filled with deep sorrow,
and yet our hearts are full of wonderful memories.
She was the gentlest soul I have ever known...
mothering Ginger and MaryAnn when we first brought them home.
Life will never quite be the same without her.
We are so grateful to Dr. Becky, who gave her a peaceful passing
in our home, with all of us loving her and holding her.

Isn't it something how dogs are supposed to be 'just animals', but they actually end up reaching into the souls of our families to become another member.
Blessings, Carol
I do strongly believe that if an animal was truly loved here on earth that animal awaits with others we love in heaven for when we will join them to be loved by them once again!

I teared up this morning at Maddie's passing but was too sad to comment. So many of us who follow you have had to say goodbye to our Dear Ones and it is never easy, even when we know we are good stewards to our animals when they aren't enjoying their lives anymore. I will miss Maddie too and I feel very sad to see her go from among your wonderful menagerie.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

So sorry for your loss, she was loved by many of us who only met her here.
