Recycling The Christmas Tree

"O Christmas tree,
O Christmas tree,
How tasty are thy branches..."

I was going to tell you that this is what I heard from the goat pen,
but the truth is...
all I hear is munching!

What's even better than Ritz crackers?

Why, a discarded Christmas tree is, of course!

Every year the goats get to recycle our Christmas trees.
They spend about a month completely stripping the needles from the tree,
and then the tree goes through the chipper and becomes ground cover for the dry lot.
Complete recycling!
Nothing wasted.

And on top of that...very happy goats.
Not to mention goats with very fresh breath!

Can you believe it...it's the last day of 2013!
Do you have plans for New Years Eve?
We are having a quiet evening on the farm.

Don't you just love New Years?
It's so ripe with possibilities...

Wherever you are, whatever you do...
be safe, ok?

Good Morning. Such lucky goats. I didn't realize how much they would like the tree until I saw the clip..They sure are HaPpY with it. Low key New Years Eve here..guess that's not a bad thing!! We have rabbits and I think they go through as many animal crackers as your animals go through ritz. Of course the dogs like the animal crackers and they get their fair share. Wishing you and yours a very happy New Year and I look forward to a year full of posts from you....Much more lifting than the depressing news from the television..

Happy Goats for sure! I'm pretty boring on New Years Eve. I stay home and really try to stay awake until the New Year. Most years I find myself sleeping on the sofa with the TV blaring the dropping of the ball! Ha, HA, always a good and safe way! Hope you and your family have a great New Year. I'm planning on a little more fun this year!

Good way to recycle the tree! We don't have goats so we put ours out in our little woods for winter bird shelter. We are just going to a movie tonight and then an early bedtime. happy New Year! cindy

It takes little to make a children... and apparently goats.... happy. They look so cute enjoying their yearly Christmas tree treat.

I wish my dogs could have minty breath like that!

They almost appear to be smiling about the Christmas tree snack they are having. So nice that you can recycle every bit of it.... Here's wishing you, your family and every sweet creature on your farm a fabulous and wondrous New Year. xox
