Sammy The Love Sponge

Not much happening on the farm today...

waiting for the rain!

Each afternoon when I finish the afternoon feeding and chores,
I try to take a little time to sit in one or more of the animal enclosures
for a little one on one time with them.

Spending this quality time with each animal helps increase the trust that they have in me...
not to mention that it is so very peaceful and fulfilling for me.

I sat against the donkey fence and watched the interaction

between

Sammy

and the donkeys.

"Love kissing those donkey noses!"
Sammy loves all of the farm animals.

Basically, Sammy is a love sponge...
always looking for somebody to pay him some attention.

He is a special boy, who plays hard, runs hard, fights hard, and loves hard!

PS:  I've just started an online course through the University of Illinois
entitled "An Introduction to Sustainability".
This course was offered through a great website called Coursera.com
It offers many online courses for free.
I will share a little with you as I go...
for I know this course will light a fire in my soul!

Oh my goodness what a little lover Sammy is.. I ADORE these photos with him and the Donkeys..Love the horses too.. I never realized that horses do actually lay down.. I remember being told when I was a little girl that is a horse lays down that means it's sick.. Obviously...... THAT information was wrong...LOL

You must get so overwhelmed with emotion when you watch your animals. To see their gentle kind side on a daily basis. What a sweet and good boy Sammy is.

Oh what a great description for Sammy! I may have to borrow it for my Sam too. My husband calls him "needy", but I prefer your Love Sponge. Always enjoy a morning visit with you and your animals. Have a great day!

Here is a little horsey sleep info... Horses sleep (nap) standing up. The only time they actually get REM sleep, however, is when they lie down to sleep. My guys stretch out on their sides and saw logs every afternoon!!....unless the weather is yucky.

I sure wish my two dogs were more like Sammy! Or any of your dogs for that matter. Mine wreck havoc if a chicken flies the coop, or a fence gate is not properly closed...(2006) THE mass duck masacre and the end of pet ducks for me. Sammy is a lover of all critters. You are blessed.

Aw! :) Sweet Sammy has my heart too. Such loving, wonderful eyes.
Sammy is such a great farm dog. My dogs are very cautious around the equines because donkeys like to kick while they're running around.
Enjoy your new course, I'm sure you will learn a lot.
