January Quietude

After the hustle and bustle of the holiday season,
it was wonderful to be able to enjoy a quiet weekend at home.

Most of Saturday we spent indoors.
I finished one quilt top

and started another, while Hubbs caught up on his reading.

Sunday morning farm breakfast included fresh homemade blueberry muffins,
which Amanda made with last summer's blueberries,
homemade jams, and omelets (made with farm fresh eggs)
stuffed with feta cheese, caramelized onions, and kale from our garden.

(Yes, we are still picking fresh kale... in spite of the snow!)

While the farm is still covered in a blanket of ice and snow,
temperatures are warmer now...
making outdoor activities more comfortable.

We spent part of Sunday afternoon outdoors with the dogs,
and took them with us as we did the afternoon feeding.
Oakley and Sam playing fetch...

Sadie "swimming" in the snow (this is her favorite time of year)...

And Maddie, just happy to be along for a short walk...

As we travelled along, we fed the horses...

and donkeys...

collected the eggs, and threw scratch to the chickens...

and guineas...

fed the goats...

stopping for a couple of "Dot" pictures...

Dot is our most photogenic goat, and a bit of a camera hog...

Our last stop was a visit with Ginger and MaryAnn.

Not so fond of cold weather, these gals have been spending most of their time indoors.

They are always willing to come out for a visit...
especially if Maddie is with us.

MaryAnn is quite interested in the ball that Maddie has hidden in her mouth!
(So is Oakley!)

Gotta love those cute piggie snouts!

Of course Tom and Chuck came along with us...
and followed us almost the whole way back to the house.

With weather predicted in the 40's for much of this coming week,
our snow will most likely disappear.
Somehow, I don't think any of the animals will mind!

Great walk around the farm... everyone looks happy and healthy this winter.

No snow here and temps this week will be in the 50's and possibly 69's one day. My daffodils are up. Not blooming, but up!!

Thanks for sharing your walk. Dot is beautiful! I love that the turkeys accompany you on "rounds".
I get such a sense of peace from your farm, Bev. All the animals are so happy.

The quilt colors are so vibrant and pretty, I like it a lot!

Maddie looks like she is sledding on my old Flexible Flyer. I bet Abby would disagree that Dot is the most photogenic goat. Tom & Chuck sort of look like they are plotting to tip you over as you try to get your Dot photo. Turkeys probably don't have enough brainpower to do things like plot -Do they? Love the quilts. I cut a new one out this morning. It will feel great to get back to sewing now that all the Christmas mess is stored away. Some normalicy is needed here.

I am salivating over the pinks/reds and cherry quilt. I collect vintage kitchen cherry items. I don't know how you do it all! But then again, we always have time for favorite hobbies! I just opened an ETSY store of what I love to do in my spare time. It has been a dream of mine for alittle bit. Check it out: The Vintage Chick Card Shop. Thanks for always posting your beautiful pictures, I always, always enjoy them.
