Away And Back in the Blink of An Eye!

Though we remain in Winter's frozen clutches,

the fluffy, snowy mantle worn by the trees is gone.
A crusty layer of frozen white remains on the cold, barren ground, however.

With most of our critters preferring to stay close to their shelters,

Hubbs and I "flew the coop" this past weekend...
heading to warmer climes to visit our son,
who lives in beautiful North Carolina.

Normally this trip southward affords us the opportunity to get out of the cold,
however, Ole Man Winter saw a chance to play hitch-hiker to our travels.
And so the entire East coast found itself in the freezer!

With the farm in the loving, capable hands of our Amanda and her Tim,
as well as our neighbors Jim and Kathy,
we left with no worries...eager to have two mornings to sleep late...
a luxury that is foreign to us on the farm.

Except for Oakley sustaining the first skunk attack of the year,
things were relatively quiet around the farm.

We are worried about our sweet MaryAnn, however.
She has been limping on her right front leg.

Luckily, with the cold weather,
she has the opportunity to stay indoors and rest her leg.
We will watch it closely and have Dr. Becky check it this week if it doesn't improve.

I feel just like I did when there were "youngins" in the house....
worrying about the "kids" is second nature to me ...
it's just that now the kids have four legs!

Stopping by to visit with the horses upon our arrival was heartwarming,

as Moonbeam seemed happy to see me and walked over to offer a greeting...
softly nuzzling his nose against my face.
It's good to feel missed!

And I am sure most of you will agree with me...
there's no place like home!

It is always exciting when there is a chance to get away, but just like Dorothy. There really is no place like home. I hope Mary Ann will be ok.

Love Moonbeam's sweet, sweet face. And yeah, two legs or four, we never stop worrying, huh?

I'm the same way with our 4-legged children... I always take notice of any changes in them, whether it be their limping, change in fur, appetite. Have to watch since critters cannot tell us if they hurt somewhere. Hope your sweet MaryAnn is okay.
Yep, pulling back in the driveway, seeing everyone okay is usually the best part of any trip ;-).

So THAT'S why it got so cold here this weekend! You guys brought it down with you! And here I was blaming my houseguests who were coming UP from FL on their way to OH. Now that you're gone...(evil grin) we can resume our moderate Winter temps.

Enjoy that snow I think you'll be getting here in a day or two...
