Special Delivery

Oh if only I were telling you a wonderfully sweet tale
of goatie birth...
but alas, no babies have arrived as of yet.
Sissy is taking her good ole time
eating pickles and ice cream
and making us wait and wait and wait!

I did, however, get a special delivery yesterday.

Our post lady brought two rather heavy boxes.
Filled with....
Can you guess????

"Dirt!" you say.
No, not dirt.
Each box held 5,000 worm cocoons.

Teenie, tiny worm cocoons...no larger than a grain of salt.
In fact in this next picture you see just that....
grains that look like salt.
Not salt, but worm babies.
Well, not even babies yet....just the promise of babies.

I took handfuls of this rich worm cocoon -filled compost and spread it
over all of my garden boxes,

and then worked it into the top layer of soil.

Meanwhile, my sidekick, TomTom rolled around in the
remains of last year's asparagus patch.

Crazy cat!

You've got to see that face up close!
Yikes!

Oh, and guess who was seen sneaking out of the rooster house
last night at close-up time?
Yep, that crazy cat was paying a visit to the Roos!
Needless to say, they were not too happy to have him
in their pad.
No harm done, though,
TomTom is only curious.....
not a mean bone in his body!

Good night Roos...
wonder if they'll dream about cats?

My kitty looks just like that when he rolls in the dirt. Big 'smile' on his face, happy to be alive.
Does Sissy know that the blogging friends are waiting, too?
I didn't know you could order earthworm cocoons? I thought you could only order live worms. I may have to look into this.

I wonder if the carrier knew what was in those heavy boxes.

Your cat looks happy to have signs of spring finally arriving.

Just think of all the rich soil you will have. Love Tom Tom pictures and his visit to the Roos. My dog Jazi visits the hens every morning. She gives them there wake up call. I'm not sure they appreciate that but Jazi enjoys the visit. Hurry up Sissy!!!

Early one spring I was coming home on a late, wet night and as I made my way through the yard to the back door, I had to pause at the magical sound, I looked and listened, there were worms everywhere! These were some fast movin, spring time lovin, magical worms! Best of luck with your new garden helpers!

How exciting that your worms have arrived! That cat is awfully cute.
Your cat is adorable. He has beautiful white teeth. So glad he doesn't like roosters.

I think I'm in love with your cat!

I've ordered honeybees that have been mailed to me. The post office substation will call you at 3am if they get a screen box or two full of bees! ;)

Bev, what a great post. We want to do this. Where did you order your worm cocoons if you don’t mind me asking? I think this is awesome! I love Tom Tom :)
things are looking great bev...thinking of you, smiles for warm weather!
Ooo Bev this looks like a wonderful idea for your raised beds...I bet your vegetables do great with all those wiggly things in there once they 'hatch'? Love your kitty but wouldn't dare try to scritch her when she's looking like that LOL! Our kitties go into the chicken coop sometimes too but they're leary of our Romeo the rooster...he's a big boy and he doesn't like any cats in his territory. Looking forward to seeing more of your garden and Hey...CONGRATS on your new beautiful little baby goat. He's adorable! Enjoy your day..it's going to be 80 here today too..Yeay!
Maura :)
