Laboring

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Bee Haven Acres
to all of you..... our family and friends we've met along life's path!

We are spending our weekend partying, picnicking, laboring.
Yep, we are taking advantage of a little extra time
and working on the "long list"....
you know, those chores that are not on the daily list...
those chores you save for when you have a little more time.

Like.....
honey harvest.....
(that's me giving a hive tour to our friends)

We made it through the harvest with only one sting.
Dear daughter, Jenn, our camera woman, was stung on the finger.
Ouch!.....sorry Jenn!

We had a much better harvest this year than last.
Still not enough to sell,
but not bad.
The honey is quite lovely
and oh, so good!

Hubbs spent a bit of time watering our orchards.
The weather here has been unbelievably dry for the past two weeks,
and there is not a speck of rain on the extended forecast.

Today we will be working on a major landscaping project.

I am also rearranging chickens today....
moving the new gals in with the big flock.
Oh, and Tuesday the new rooster condo arrives.
I'll post pictures on Wednesday.

Happy Labor Day!
I sure hope you take some time to relax today.

Hi Beverly,
I've been thinking about beekeeping for about a year now. It looks really interesting and there is nothing like eating your own harvest. Have a great day!

Happy Labor day to you and yours Bev! Your honey looks so lovely in that picture, I'm kinda jealous to see how much yummy goodness you have there. We are lucky enough to have somebody close by who has about 15 hives and sells his honey - it's delicious! Can't wait to see the new rooster condo...

I love to read your posts as they inspire me! The husband and I want to start raising bees but we are new at this farm things and really have no idea when and where to start. We've been reading but I would love your advice. I will e-mail you directly.
Happy Labor Day from Amy at Verde Farm

Wish I could send some of our rain your way..we are like a rain forest here. I can not keep up to it. So many jobs to do before winter..and it is just to wet!!!
Honey ..oh yummy!! Maybe next year some to sell.
