For the next few months you will be seeing lots of goat pictures (I hope you don't mind!) To me, there is nothing cuter than a kid. They are so tiny and yet so well developed. Myrtle spends her whole day taking care of them....she even head-butts me with her horns when I get too close to her babies....just a warning and a reminder that they are HERS!!Becky and I cleaned out the maternity ward yesterday, so the triplets got to go outside to play for a few minutes. They are amazingly inquisitive and already quite agile. It won't be long until they are scampering and jumping all over their yard.
The little black and white kid is a buckling and the tri-colored brown twins are doelings. It appears that their eyes are blue/tan marbled...at least for now.
They have only been here for 48 hours and already we are hopelessly in love with these little kids!

Be well ~Andrea~
How funny that Myrtle head-butts you. She doesn't want to share the cuties!
Your babies are so cute! I love them. While in Walt Disney World we visited the Animal Kingdom and walked through the little petting zoo they had. The young goats were so cute there - they had a little bridge that they would butt heads on. I asked one of the keepers about the shape of the goat's eye (pupil that is rectangular rather than round) and they said it helps them to see better. I found this information in the internet:
Goats (and most other animals with hoofs) have horizontal slits which are nearly rectangular when dilated. This gives goats vision covering 320 - 340 degrees; this means they can see virtually all around them without having to move (humans have vision covering 160 - 210 degrees). Consequently, animals with rectangular eyes can see better at night due to having larger pupils that can be closed more tightly during the day to restrict light. Interestingly, octopuses also have rectangular pupils.
Isn't it amazing what you can find out about on the internet. By the way, welcome back. Hope you had a great vacation. We had some snafus on the way down to Walt Disney World which I will post about later. We came home to 26 plus inches of snow with more on the way. We were glad to get home (after three days of driving 350 to 400 miles) and very happy to have made it through DC and Baltimore.
